Objective
Objective
The Swedish Energy Agency is partly financing research the Basic Programme managed by Värmeforsk (the Thermal Engineering Research Association). The objective of Värmeforsk’s Basic Program is to develop more efficient and environmentally friendly heat and power production plants and forestry industry lignin- and biofuel boilers. The program is focused mainly on production of electricity and/or heat and other alternatives for combined production, such as cooling, vehicle fuels and other products. The primary purpose of these activities is to contribute towards greater profitability and knowledge among players in the industry. This is particularly important in view of changing conditions for fuel supply and fuel prices, competition for fuel raw materials or the need for increased domestic biomass-based power production. addition, Värmeforsk runs more specific programmes such as environmental friendly use of non- coal ashes, the forest industry programme, and crops from field to energy production – Salix, straw, cereals, reed canary-grass, and hemp
