Objective

The objective of the programme is to develop new biorefinery concepts and biomass processing technologies utilizing the strong national knowledge on biomass and bioenergy. The aim is to get innovative new technologies, products and services to the international markets and to create the required new know-how to achieve this. Special focus is in promoting the second generation biofuels for transportation. Also networking across the business areas and international co-operation are encouraged in the programme.

Calls

The second call for public research project pre-proposals is from November 15th, 2007 to January 31st, 2008 and focuses on:

  • The development of chemicals, fibre products and other products made from biomass, excluding biofuel and energy;
  • The stand-alone production of the above products or the integration of their production into other industrial processes;
  • Analyses of market and competitive situation for products and development of business concepts;
  • The processing of biomass on a more general level, with the purpose of optimising or modelling biorefineries;
  • Issues related to raw materials;
  • Waste utilisation, including in energy and biofuel production integrated into industrial processes.
